Getting help

Do you need guidance or advice?

Guidance helps you identify what options are available, but does not tell you which option to pick. That’s your decision to make. Guidance is not tailored to your specific circumstances.

Advice is tailored to your specific circumstances. Typically, a financial adviser will use the information you give them to tell you what options would be best for you.

MoneyHelper

A government-backed service, MoneyHelper offers free money and pensions guidance. They can help you work out how much you might need when you retire, and help you find a financial adviser. Find out more on MoneyHelper’s website.

The Pension Decision Service

Run by our administrator, Mercer, the Pension Decision Service offers both guidance and advice. They have a 5-step guide to help you understand the different options available to you for retirement. You can get guidance from one of their Retirement Relationship Managers, and if you decide you’d like advice, they’ll help you find a financial adviser. Read more in the Pension Decision Service brochure (PDF).

SAIL

SAIL is a charity offering guidance to anyone who’s worked at sea and their families. You can speak to SAIL about pensions, money worries, charity grants, and anything else that might be on your mind. Find out more on SAIL’s website or by calling them on 0800 160 1842.
