how to report a death

There are different ways to report a death to us, depending on whether someone is receiving a pension from the Fund or not:

If they are not receiving a pension

If someone who is a member of the Fund and not yet receiving a pension has died, you should let us know as soon as possible by calling the Administration Team on 01372 200 385 and we can look into any potential benefits that may be payable.

If they are receiving a pension

If someone who is receiving a pension from the Fund has died, you should let us know as soon as possible by calling the Payroll Team on 01372 200 222.

It is especially important that you let us know about the death of anyone who is receiving a pension from the Fund, whether they are a member, spouse or civil partner.

By telling us as soon as possible about the death of someone who is receiving a pension from the Fund we can take steps to avoid overpayments being made, and we can avoid adding further distress to what is likely to be an already upsetting time by asking for overpaid money to be paid back.

Please remember that it is the role of the Trustee to make sure that money is only paid from the Fund when it is due, and the Trustee must take steps to recover overpaid amounts to make sure there is no impact on the Fund's ability to pay the benefits that are due to other members and beneficiaries.
